Heart for the people.

I get asked what makes Thailand such a special place for us. Apart from attending the ACCi Mission Conference, we have friends that are locals that live and work in Phuket itself. Not only that, our friends tell us about local businesses that are safe for foreigners like us. It is clear that Thailand has a heart for the people, not just locals but for us too.
After 10 years of knowing them, our friend tells us more about the culture of Thailand, especially the Father's Day, held on the same day as King Rama X's birthday. She also tell us about her own father. She told us about how special a time it is to gather with family. While many businesses are open on this day, they have chosen to close the cafe.
While many might be upset they closed their business, we understood their need to spend valuable time with family. Family has always been the heart of God, not just close relations, but our wider Christian family. So, far apart from my own family, it is wonderful to spend time with other believers whom we celebrate our faith.
Jesus had the same worldview. When his family comes to take him away. He describes his disciples as brother, sisters and mothers. We are all part of a bigger family, and His love is for all people. This goes beyond simple words, it is a love in action, a value of others, and shows God's heart for His creation.
