Believing the impossible.

My family is friendly, generous and practice hospitality, I am very proud of my children, and I am kind of jealous because my upbringing was different. Growing up was practical, realistic, and we were taught not to question. But, when I heard about Jesus, my mindset changed. I became a dreamer, a visionary, and learnt that anything is possible with God.
After doing a bit of calculating, in this month, I have been walking with God for 40 years! In reflection, I have seen God's footprints on my life in ways that wouldn't make sense. But, God works in ways that we cannot explain scientifically or rationally. He operates in the spiritual, kingdom-based world. Reading Gideon today, brings this all home to me.
Judges 6 explains a little-known family in the tribe of Ephraim. The Canaanites were invading his homeland, and saw little hope. Gideon's generation had heard a little about the miracles in the desert, and could not understand why God was absent. When the angel of God visited Gideon, he learnt that God's power trumps what we know.
After asking God for proof, using the sheepskin wool as testing point. Gideon realised his people were not forgotten. God would rescue him from his enemies with a very small army against tens of thousands of a foreign army. Gideon believed for the impossible, and the victory was ultimately given to God.
One thing I have never forgotten, God turns the helpless into hope, the mourning into joy. Not the over the top kind, but the quiet, abiding love, that fills our spirit with type of joy, the world can never understand. God sent His son Jesus as the bridge, to restore a relationship with God to where it should be, because He does the impossible.
