A "Yappari" moment.

When we have something unexpected happen, it is often considered a surprise moment. While sometimes we may have not expected it, the bigger question is should we expect good things? The Japanese word for as expected is yappari, or it is often expressed as expected.

God wants us to have that kind of attitute. Not out of entitlement, as if we demand our own way, but that God desires for His people to trust Him in all ways. Jesus declares it this way but telling us "Do not worry" Matthew 6.34. And, in these times, I repent for not trusting Him more.

It is nearly one year since I started tutoring, and it has been an interesting job, and a lesson in faith. Often, I find myself trying to figure it all out, but God reminds me to trust Him even when I am unsure or unprepared for the student I have to tutor. One such moment, was when I lost a student from my roster, and I took the loss hard.

While I may not know the why, I kept praying that God would show me the way through. And, you guessed it, I not only got one student, I got two! As I am preparing to go to Thailand, God reminds me, even in a small job such at this, His hand is all over it. Isn't our God amazing in how He works things out?

So, as I am typing this, I pray that not only will God reveal what and how our journey to Japan will go while in Thailand, I have an expectant, open heart. This is the kind of Christian we should be. Moses in Deuteronomy 28:13 reminds me that we are the head not the tail. As Christians, we should remember that God makes us for better days.
